Born in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin, Gary Coyle is a Graduate of NCAD and RCA London. He works in a variety of different media – Photography, Spoken Word performance and Drawing. He has been awarded numerous Awards and Bursaries, including Arts Council of Ireland Projects Awards 2005, 2006, 2018, Arts Council Of Ireland Bursaries 2001, 2003, 2009, 2013. A Henry Moore Foundation Fellowship, 1995, RHA and Irish US Council for Commerce Portrait Award 2007, Davy Portrait Award winner 2008. He was elected a member of the RHA 2005, and Aosdana in 2009. In 2018 he wrote and performed a one man spoken word show “My Magnetic North“ which was presented at The Project, Dublin 2018. His last one man exhibition at The Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, was Dreaming Different Dreams, which was held in 2020. His most recent Solo Exhibition “Lost in A Ceo,” a meditation of Peig Sayers and what Irishness means, was held at The MOLI Museum Dublin and was subsequently acquired by The Crawford Gallery Cork. |
